Dog Mountain & Mist Falls

Sunday morning June 7th we made an early start for Dog Mountain, we set out at 7:00am, met Nancy in Troutdale & got there at 8:00. The parking lot was surprisingly empty only about a dozen cars were there before us. We went up the long scenic way & came down the Augsberger trail for a loop of about 7.5 miles. It was mostly cloudy with a cold strong westerly wind so we didn't hang around much. We were at the top before 9:45 & back at the trail head by 11:30! By then the parking lot was full with 3 lines of cars & people everywhere!! Since we had made such good time we stopped at Mist Falls on the way back & took the little known trail up to the base of the Falls.

Summer Thunder Storms

June 4th NW Oregon had some of the strongest thunder storms it's had in years. We only caught the edge of it & got off lightly compared to lots of places between Portland & Salem. What must have been the last gust of wind from the storm blew the top of this Bigleaf Maple out just down the road from us. Needless to say we lost power for a few hours. Grilled Chicken & Jacket Potatoes on the BBQ for dinner!
