Summit of Barret Spur since 2002. We set off from the Vista Ridge trail to the Timberline trail, we then continued on up the Vista ridge line to the base of Barret Spur at 7300'. From here we climbed up the North side of Barret spur then picked our way along the crumbling ridge to the summit at 7800' then on to the South side & the North Face of Mt. Hood.

So Saturday July 10th I got around to doing one of the things that had been on my to do list for a long time ticked off - The Triple D. This Mazamas Club challenge involves hiking up Devils Rest, Mt. Defiance & Dog Mt. in the same day. All told it comes out to just under 25 miles & 10,200 feet of elevation gain. I began at the Wahkena Falls trailhead at 5:00am finished 10 hours 46 minutes later at the Dog Mountain trailhead. Tired but not as bad as I expected to feel! Took just a few pics along the way and cobbled together a bunch of short movie clips so you can do the Triple D in 9 minutes 12 seconds :^).

Sunday July 4th we hiked up out of the clouds & drizzle into beautiful sunshine & a great day. The Avalanche Lilies were as stunning as always but the Beargrass was a bust this year. We took the Bald Mountain / McNeil Cutoff Trail route up to the shelter. From here we headed on up to the end of the ridge trail. Along the way we were also treated to great views of the Razorbalde Pinnacle, Yocum Ridge Falls & McNeil Creek Falls. Something we hadn't see before, thousands & thousands of ladybirds clustered on the rocks at the trails end!
