Backs to the Fire!

We set off on a rare weekday hike last Friday in damp weather with Kazuko & Pascal. We went up the Wyeth trail then took the Green Point Ridge trail over to the Gorton Creek trail. Stopping for bite to eat up on the Green Point Plateau we made a small fire to dry out & warm up before the hike down past Indian Point to Herman Creek. We thought this was going to be a 12 mile hike but ended up being almost 16 miles with 5000' of elevation gain, Whoops!

The Loony way to Tanner Butte!

Saturday June 16th I set out on a grand adventure with some fellow loonies from Portland Hikers. Our plan was to travel up Eagle Creek to 4.5 mile Bridge then travel off trail up the ridge line that separates the Tenas Creek & the Opal Creek drainage to Tanner Butte. We would return by the regular Tanner Butte Trail. The off trail portion of the hike was probably the toughest thing I've ever done! We did the first 5 miles up Eagle Creek in less than 90 minutes but it took us 5:30 hours to travel the 3.5 miles & 4000' of elevation gain up the ridge line to the Tanner Butte trail just North of the Butte! The whole day came in at 12 hours, 20 miles & 5275' of EG

Trail Blazing

Sunday we set out on the third hike so far to map a hiking route from Table to Archer Mountain. The first two hikes focused on the old Russ Jolly trail from Cynthia Falls to Keuffler Road. Today we mapped the route from Keuffler road East to the power lines on Hamilton Ridge.

Happy Jubilee

A quiet Queen's Jubilee celebration for the Meachams in Oregon! We put the flag out & Mirranda came over, Chiyoko did us proud with a home made Egg & Pork Pie for tea!

Chiyoko's fantastic home made Egg & Pork Pie.

Long live the Queen..

A quick Dog!

We set off for a quick afternoon hike up Dog Mountain on June 1st with Kazuko & Pascal. It was right at peak flowering time so we knew the weekend would be a zoo so we opted for a 3:00pm start on a Friday when most people were done for the day. The rain began a couple of minutes after we returned to the trail head at 7:00 - Perfect timing!!
